“The Purge” film franchise has been a lucrative one for Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights and this year the theme park will incorporate the all-new prequel, “The First Purge,” into its annual haunting event.
“The First Purge,” which is currently in theaters, focuses on the inaugural 12-hour government-sanctioned evening of lawlessness, where anything and everything goes … even murder. With all police, fire and emergency services suspended for the full 12 hours, it’s all about survival and kill or be killed.
The maze will tap into those fears of random strangers or acquaintances holding grudges coming to get you during the purge as the country spirals into chaos. The conversational social experiment was created as a means of ridding society of all ills and of course it backfires in the most horrific ways.
Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights has already announced that it will feature attractions based on the popular Netflix series “Stranger Things” as well as a maze modeled after horror writer and director Michael Dougherty’s cult-classic, “Trick ‘r Treat.” The event officially kicks off on Friday, Sept. 14, and runs on select nights through Nov. 4.
