Woman Raped At Center City Macy’s: Police

Police said the man raped a woman who was shopping in Macy's Sunday morning in one of the store's bathrooms, using a skewer as a weapon.

PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia are looking for a man who raped a woman inside the public bathroom at the Center City Macy's store.

According to police, the incident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. on Sunday at Macy's, 1300 Market Street.

NBC10 reports the victim was in the store with her husband, who was on another level of the store, when she went to use the restroom.

While in the stall, the suspect jumped over the stall and attacked the woman with cooking skewers used as his weapon, Action News reports.

After the attack the suspect left the store on foot and got on SEPTA's Market Frankford Line at 13th and Market Street at about 11:45 a.m.

He was then seen leaving the SEPTA station 52nd and Market at approximately 11:54 a.m.

Police described the suspect as a 20-year-old black male with a thin build who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with white stripes on left leg, black sneakers with white around the sole, three-quarter length jacket with hood with white writing on left shoulder and possibly four buttons on each sleeve. He was also wearing a surgical mask.
