Vontaze Burfict appears to throw punches as old habits resurface

Vontaze Burfict is at it again.

The Raiders linebacker with a history of dirty plays appeared to try throwing a few punches at the end of a Dalvin Cook run Sunday in a 34-14 loss to the Vikings.

One swing appeared to land on the helmet of offensive lineman Riley Reiff in the pile while the other just caught air as Cook fell to the ground.

It’s possible Burfict was trying to punch the ball out of Cook’s hands, but he didn’t have much of a chance from his angle, and he may not get the benefit of the doubt considering his past.

During the first seven years of his career, all with the Bengals, Burfict was fined or suspended 13 times, and racked up $4.12 million in fines, according to For The Win. Among his most notable offenses was delivering a brutal hit on a defenseless Antonio Brown during the 2016 playoffs, knocking the wide receiver out for the game.

Burfict was recently named a Raiders captain, but he seems to be up to his old tricks again as Jon Gruden’s team fell to 1-2.
