First look at new ESPN College GameDay location on Alabama’s quad

The rain didn’t help but the ESPN College GameDay setup was nearing completion Thursday afternoon on the Alabama campus.

Judi Weiss, the senior remote operations producer, gave AL.com a quick tour of the production between rain drops on the quad.

The parade of tractor trailers hauling the set arrived in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday to build the roof of the main set. The rest of the work was being done Thursdays and is typically done by 4 p.m., but the rain slowed some of the progress.

The plan is to have everything done, hooked up to the trucks and satellites in time to go live for Friday morning SportsCenter live shots.

Take a look at the new set up above after ESPN decided to move the production to the quad after broadcasting from the Walk of Champions every visit since 2007.
