LA CROSSE, Wisc. (WLAX) — Legendary University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football coach Roger Harring died Thursday. He was 88.

Harring led the Eagles to three national championships in 1985, 1992 and 1995. The team also won the WIAC Championship 15 times during Harring’s 31 years at UW-L.

Harring was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005 and the WIAC Hall of Fame in 2012. ESPN, in 2019, named Harring one of the 150 Best College Coaches of All-Time.

The UW-La Crosse football stadium in named the Roger Harring stadium at Veteran Memorial Field Sports Complex in his honor. Harring also coached at Ladysmith and Wisconsin Rapids.
