Police sought one suspect in two stabbing incidents in Long Beach early Sunday, June 16.

Officers responded about 1:20 a.m. to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon at the 200 block of Pine Avenue, Long Beach Police Department officials said in a statement. Two men were found suffering from stab wounds to the upper torso and taken to a nearby hospital.

Police were summoned to a local hospital at 3:10 a.m. and learned that another person had been stabbed in the lower torso Sunday morning, said the statement. Preliminary investigation suggests that he was wounded after getting into an altercation near the intersection of Pine Avenue and 3rd Street, then managed to get himself to the hospital.

The three victims were listed as stable Sunday evening, the Police Department said.

The two assaults allegedly took place within 400 feet of each other. Authorities believe one person was responsible for both attacks. He was described as a man in his 20s in the department’s statement.

Police did not immediately suggest a possible motive for the stabbings, but said gang detectives had taken part in the investigation, which was ongoing Sunday evening.
