Street sweeping and ticketing for expired stickers will resume in Boston next week

Spring is coming: Street sweeping in the North End, South End, and Beacon Hill will resume Monday, March 1, the city announced on Tuesday. Sweeping will resume citywide on Thursday, April 1.

“With spring approaching, we are asking residents to move their vehicles during posted street sweeping times to ensure our Public Works Department is able to fully clean streets citywide,” said Mayor Walsh in a release. “Thank you to all of our residents for your continued cooperation to keep our streets clean.”

March 1 is also when the Boston Transportation Department will return to ticketing for expired inspection stickers and vehicle registration, along with failing to move vehicles during street sweeping. Ticketing for those violations was paused by Mayor Marty Walsh at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

Make sure to check the city’s street sweeping schedule to avoid a fine between $40 and $90, and update expired stickers and registrations soon; the fine is $40. If you’re driving one of the over 584,000 vehicles in the state with expired stickers, find an inspection station here.
