Cops charge man who attempted suicide-by-cop

Authorities have charged the suicidal man who was shot several times after he set his vehicle on fire outside a Queens police station, lunged at cops with a knife and taunted them, police said Monday.

Jarrell Davis, 33, was hit with charges of arson, attempted arson, menacing a police officer, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon for Sunday afternoon’s mayhem, police said.

Davis, who lives about five miles away from the 111th Precinct in Bayside, crashed his car into an empty police SUV parked outside the station, then got out and doused it and his own vehicle with an accelerant before setting his car on fire.

As officers came out of the building, Davis — who was half-naked — allegedly charged at them with a 12-inch kitchen knife, prompting two cops to fire several rounds, striking him seven times in the torso and leg, police and law enforcement sources told The Post.

His body riddled with bullets, Davis still had the strength to taunt the officers, telling them, “I should’ve done this in Texas, they shoot better,” law enforcement sources said.

He remains in stable condition at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.
