Singer Johnny Nash has died at the age of 80.
The American singer died at home in Houston on Tuesday of natural causes, his son said.
John Nash III told TMZ: "He was a wonderful father and family man. He loved people and the world. He will be missed by his community.
"Family was his everything."
Nash was best known for the 1970s reggae hit I Can See Clearly Now but he largely dropped out of the spotlight in the late 1980s.
The song, reportedly written while he recovered from cataract surgery, sold more than a million copies and sat at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for four weeks.
Houston-born Nash started his performance career in the late 1950s as a singer and actor.
He made his debut as a major label artist in 1957 with the single A Teenager Sings the Blues.
It was in Jamaica during the 1960s that he was influenced by reggae, becoming one of the first artists to bring the genre to US audiences.
Also among his hits was his version of Bob Marley's Stir It Up and There Are More Questions Than Answers.
His final studio album was Here Again, released in 1986.
In a 1973 interview with Zoo World Magazine, Nash said: "I feel that music is universal. Music is for the ears and not the age.
"There are some people who say that they hate music. I've run into a few, but I'm not sure I believe them."
Nash was married three times, and had two children.
