The man seen on camera performing lewd acts on a woman in a Hoboken bar is believed to be a law enforcement officer in Pennsylvania, according to the bar's lawyer.

The Hub launched an investigation after explicit videos of the incident went viral on social media early last week, prompting the city to close the bar, attorney Jeffrey Garrigan said in a statement.

"It is believed that the male is employed by the State of Pennsylvania as a law enforcement officer and it is our sincere hope that arrests are imminent for their lewd conduct which has seriously harmed our reputation," Garrigan said in the statement.

Although the man in the video has not been identified, his occupation was confirmed through accounts of people in the bar that night, Garrigan said, adding that the man repeatedly identified himself as a police officer to employees when asked to leave the bar.

The attorney also said that the investigation has identified the woman.

The bar's investigation into the incident has been conducted using witness testimonies, videos and photographs of the incident and social media posts. Garrigan said.

In the wake of the incident, Hoboken's Alcoholic Beverage Control board has lodged 15 complaints against The Hub's liquor licensee, Teak On The Hudson LLC. Those charges are scheduled to be heard on Oct. 25. Until then, the bar remains closed.

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla is pushing for the bar's liquor license to be revoked.

Garrigan said the bar has been in contact with Hoboken police.

Garrigan said he would not rule out the possibility of the bar taking civil action against the two individuals.
