Former Forsyth Sheriff's Deputy Charged With Sexual Assault

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — A former Forsyth County Sheriff's Office deputy was arrested and charged by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on allegations he was sexually involved with an inmate.

On Tuesday, the GBI arrested former deputy Nicholas Maddox, 34, of Dawsonville, for sexual assault by a person of supervisory or disciplinary authority. Maddox was booked by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and is out on bond.

On May 26, 2020, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office requested that the GBI investigate allegations that Maddox was sexually involved with a Forsyth County inmate while working in the jail in 2015. As a result of the investigation, Maddox was charged in this case.

Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be provided to the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution.
