Elderly Man Charged With Second-Degree Murder In Derry

Update: Roderick Munstis, 79, has been arrested and charged with murdering Ellen Munstis, 74, in Derry.

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office announced an arrest Saturday in the murder of an elderly woman in Derry. Roderick Munstis, 79, was arrested on alternative counts of knowing and reckless second-degree murder. He was charged after police were sent to the Route 28 Bypass in Derry at just after midnight for a report of a shooting.

At the home, police found Ellen Munstis, 74, deceased, due to gunshot wounds.

Roderick Munstis, according to Public Information Officer Kate Spiner, called 911 to report the shooting to police.

The NH AG's Office announced an investigation into the murder case this morning and announced the arrest this afternoon.

Roderick Munstis is being held and will be arraigned on Monday in Rockingham County Superior Court.

Police are asking for anyone in the area of the home on Friday, located at 151 Route 28 Bypass/Londonderry Turnpike, who may have seen or heard any part of the incident, to call the Derry Police Department's detective unit at 603-432-6111.
