WARNING: Contains series 1 spoilers!

After that cliff-hanger at the end of the first series, we're intrigued to see how the second series of Liar will play out. Here's what we know so far...

Is Liar series 2 definitely happening?

You betcha! We had confirmation from ITV the second the first series finished. And now we finally have a release date.

ITV’s Head of Drama, Polly Hill said: “Liar has gripped the nation over the last six weeks and we’re delighted both Joanne and Ioan will return to play Laura and Andrew. Jack and Harry Williams are incredible storytellers and part two of Liar will have the audience equally gripped, as we find out who killed Andrew Earlham.”

And writers, Jack and Harry Williams, added: “We always hoped this story would return for its final chapter, and we can’t wait to be reunited with the brilliant Joanne and Ioan”.

Liar series 2 release date revealed

Liar writers, brothers Jack and Harry Williams, told TV Times: "It should be out in the autumn." This has now been specified as Monday the 2nd of March, at 9pm on ITV.

YUSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Liar series 2 cast

As Polly said, Joanne and Ioan will be back to reprise their roles as Laura and Andrew. But... wait a minute... Andrew's dead. So how does that work for Ioan? We're guessing there will be a number of flashbacks as the second series leads us to find out who actually killed the serial rapist. Was it Laura? Maybe it could have been Andrew's son, Luke? Or DI Harmon's wife Jennifer? And don't forget Laura's ex Tom, and her sister Katy - it could well have been one of those guys. We guess we'll have to wait and see...

Writer Jack added: "Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd are back. We’re delighted that anyone frustrated by the cliffhanger will be rewarded for their patience. Questions are answered and the title is central."

Harry added: "It’s a different lie. Who’s lying about what? The audience will be figuring that out."
