We created a giant baked bean — people want to try it ‘immediately’

It was a half-baked idea.

London advertising creatives Tom Snell, 25, and Dylan Hartigan, 27, have gone viral for making a food item no one asked for: Two tins of Heinz baked beans mashed into one giant tomato sauce-soaked baked bean.

Originally posted to Reddit, the giant bean found acclaim this week on the F-cked Up Foods Twitter account, amassing over 35,500 likes as the internet debated if it would be scrumptious or flat-out disgusting.

The magical fruit is pictured on top of a slice of bread for scale. It hangs off the bread on both sides.

“People need a big bean in their lives,” Snell told Metro UK when asked about the reason for the creation, adding that there was no real purpose for it.

“The UK loves beans, so what’s the next step for the bean? How do we elevate it? The obvious next step was to make it as big as we can,” Hartigan added. “We just thought this is what the people need.”

The duo claimed they thought about making a giant baked bean for two years and just recently spent a Sunday afternoon bringing their idea to life.

“We were just sitting on it, and we said, ‘I think it’s time to make it,'” Hartigan explained.

When selecting ingredients, the pair opted for Heinz baked beans because, as Hartigan put it, “If it was to exist in the world, [Heinz] is the brand that we should do it with, so we mocked it up.”

Heinz UK even reacted to the masterpiece on Twitter, writing of the sight: “Yeah… that’s enough Internet for one day,”

The Post has contacted the creative pair and reps for Heinz UK for comment.

“We can’t quite believe the reaction it’s got,” Snell said in a Friday email to The Post. “The Big Bean just keeps growing. It’s taken on a life of its own, and now it seems New York even likes it, which is mad. Long may it continue. Maybe New Zealand will enjoy it too.”

People on Twitter and Reddit couldn’t get enough of the saucy delicacy — for better or for worse.

“This is absolutely disgusting and I want it shipped to the US immediately so I can try it,” one person declared on Reddit.

“I didn’t know I needed to see this but I did,” another tweeted.

“I’m so crushed that this doesn’t actually exist,” one admitted.

“Finally a worthy opponent for the Chicago Bean,” another admired its girth.

“Ew, imagining that makes my teeth tingle,” one person stated.

Others claimed the bean looked like a yucky human kidney.

“Put that kidney back in mate,” one Reddit user joked.

“I wondered what happened to mine when it was removed,” another quipped.

Reddit foodies even shared recipe ideas to enhance the giant bean to its greatest potential.

“What do you do with it cut it in half and cram cheese in it then it’s a jacket bean?” one curious chef asked.

“That is a bloody amazing idea,” someone responded. “Am now thinking what else would work as a jacket bean filling.”

“You fill it with mash and cheese,” another offered.

“I was thinking cut a big slab, put it on toast with an egg,” yet another suggested.
