Hot off the heels of the sad cancellation of Daredevil and Luke Cage (and the, ahem, welcome cancellation of Iron Fist), Marvel has announced four new TV shows to stream online.

But these are going to be very different from what has come before. Very different, indeed.

As reported by Variety, these four new shows will all be animated series for adults, focusing on some of Marvel's weirder characters. Evil robotic giant head MODOK, simian assassin Hit-Monkey, cat person and disco diva Tigra and Dazzler, and – of course – Howard the Duck.

There are some talented people being lined up for the shows, too. Clerks and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back's Kevin Smith is teaming up with Aqua Teen Hunger Force co-creator Dave Willis for Howard's show. Community writer Jordan Blum and geek favourite Patton Oswalt are working together on MODOK, while Chelsea Handler is involved with Tigra & Dazzler.

Eventually, the characters from the four shows will come together to make... The Offenders!

A UK streaming service hasn't been announced yet, but in the US they will all be carried on Hulu. The Walt Disney Company will own a majority in Hulu once the Fox buyout is complete, and will probably use it as a grown-up alternative to its family-friendly Disney+ service.

As a fun fact, did you know that Marvel once planned on making a Dazzler movie starring Cher, KISS, Donna Summer, the Village People and Robin Williams?!
