The White House Apprentice fires another contestant

Following an especially intense episode in which the team failed the “Get A Pedophile Elected Out Of Partisan Spite” challenge, another contestant has been let go from The White House Apprentice—this time, Omarosa Manigault Newman, better known by her fearsome mononym “Omarosa.” Omarosa was hotly tipped to last most of the rest of the season due to her triumphs on Trump’s previous reality shows, where she displayed the sort of open animosity, zeal for backstabbing, and unfailing selfishness that makes one ideally suited for life as a public servant in 2017. Her exit was announced in a statement from fellow contestant Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who said that Omarosa had “resigned yesterday to pursue opportunities” in the usual deadpan, dissembling parlance that has made her the show’s resident “villain,” right alongside everyone else.

Naturally, Sanders’ statement has already been contradicted by the press, with New York Times reporter Yamiche Alcindor saying she was actually fired and “escorted off of the White House grounds by security,” where she immediately began “calling friends saying that she left voluntarily because her year anniversary was coming up.” CNN correspondent April Ryan added that “multiple sources” told her that “there was drama,” including a dramatic showdown with Chief Of Staff Gen. John Kelly in which she “acted very vulgar and cursed a lot.”

Of course, this version is only believable if you’ve ever seen any of Omarosa’s TV appearances, read any profile, or witnessed any other of her public interactions. Presumably these scenes will be included in the DVD extras.

During her impressive run on the show, Omarosa acquitted herself admirably in the “See? Trump Knows A Black Person” challenge, in addition to the “Intimidating The Press” and “Issuing Chilling Statements About ‘Enemies Lists’ and ‘Bowing Down’ That Don’t Even Bother To Obfuscate Their Calls To Tyranny” challenges.

That said, she struggled with most others—including the “Please Don’t Call Attention To How Dangerously Unqualified And Clearly Based In Cronyism Most Of Trump’s Appointees Are” challenge, which she fumbled when she memorably started signing letters as “The Honorable Omarosa.” In a recent November episode, she also failed the “Don’t Illustrate What A Fucking Joke This Whole Thing Is” challenge by bringing members of her 39-person bridal party into the White House for an extensive, unauthorized photo shoot.

Omarosa’s long limo ride home from D.C. follows that of fellow former contestants Steve Bannon, Sean Spicer, Anthony Scaramucci, Reince Priebus, Michael Flynn, Preet Bharara, Derek Harvey, James Comey, Katie Walsh, Michael Dubke, Walter Shaub, Michael Short, Tom Price, and Sebastian Gorka, whom she will rejoin on an Andy Cohen-hosted reunion special still to be announced.

Meanwhile, the Trump Administration is expected to be looking for a replacement to fill Omarosa’s very specific role within the White House, such as… NeNe Leakes, maybe? What’s she up to?
