Baldwin Hills star Gerren Taylor has died at the age of 30. Taylor’s family announced that Taylor died in her sleep on April 11. As Distractify reported, no official cause of death has been released yet.
Taylor rose to prominence when she was spotted by a talent scout and signed to the runway division of L.A. Models at the age of 12, becoming the youngest model to achieve that status. She later signed with Ford Modeling Agency, and reached an even broader audience as part of the BET series Baldwin Hills. The series, which ran from 2007 to 2009, chronicled the lives of affluent African American teens living in the titular Los Angeles neighborhood. Taylor was a major part of the show, with Season 1 chronicling much of her relationship with Moriah Johnson. While starring on Baldwin Hills, Taylor also appeared in the documentary America the Beautiful, which took a critical look at the beauty industry.
Upon hearing the news of Taylor’s passing, her Baldwin Hills co-star Moriah Johnson posted a tribute on Instagram.
BET as well as many of Taylor’s fans also posted tributes online.
Ashley Gerren Taylor is survived by a daughter. For those wanting to relive Taylor’s TV moments, all three seasons of Baldwin Hills are currently available to stream on Hulu.
