RAMALLAH, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Member of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Hanan Ashrawi slammed on Monday the Paraguayan embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying this move is "a deliberate and flagrant violation of international law and legitimacy resolutions."

"Taking such a provocative and irresponsible step comes as part of the complicit role of Paraguay, following the steps of the U.S. and Guatemala, to consolidate the Israeli military occupation and annex Jerusalem," Ashrawi said in a statement.

She urged Arab and Islamic states and the non-aligned movement to boycott countries that support Israel and move their embassies to Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Foreign Affairs Ministry said that Paraguay embassy relocation came in response to "American and Israeli dictations and allures."

The ministry said in an emailed statement that it will closely follow up this issue, strengthen the international rejection of U.S. President Donald Trump's move on Jerusalem and the countries that moved their embassies in Israel to Jerusalem and take legal, political and diplomatic actions against them.

Paraguay is the third country to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem after the U.S. and Guatemala. The ceremony on Monday was attended by Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
