A gun-toting, Staten Island sex-offender peeved over the election results threatened to bomb protesters and kill Democrats — including a Jewish senator from “Jew York,” federal prosecutors have announced.
Brian Maiorana, 54, was arrested at his home Tuesday by the New York Joint Terrorism Task Force and hauled into Brooklyn federal court after he made a series of death threats on an unnamed social media platform beginning in September, authorities said.
“The carnage needs to come in the form of extermination of anyone that claims to be democrat…as well as their family members,” he allegedly wrote while the election was still up in the air on Nov. 5, according to the complaint against him.
During a bail hearing conducted by video, Assistant U.S. Attorney Artie McConnell argued that Maiorana is dangerous and should be held without bail.
“This defendant greatly exceeded what can be characterized as political hyperbole, using words like carnage, extermination, assassination,” the prosecutor said.
Agents seized a loaded semi-automatic pistol, gun parts for .22 caliber firearm, an expandable baton, a crossbow, a taser and a skull mask during a court-authorized search of his home, McConnell said. Due to a 2007 conviction in Pennsylvania for statutory sexual assault, Maiorana is a Level 1 registered sex offender and is barred from owning a firearm. The prosecutor said the government intends to seek additional charges for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
In another post on Nov. 8, he appeared to target Sen. Chuck Schumer.
“As the Jew Senator from Jew York said ‘nothing is off the table,’ ” Maiorana allegedly posted, referencing a statement Schumer made on whether Democrats would expand the Supreme Court if they won the election.
“’The Turner Diaries’ must come to life. We blow up the FBI building for real. All the alphabet agencies assassination will become the new normal now…that the electoral process is finished,” he wrote also on Nov. 8, according to the complaint.
The “Turner Diaries” is a 1978 novel by William Luther Pierce that depicts the overthrow of the federal government and the extermination of non-whites. The novel has inspired numerous acts of terrorism, including the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, prosecutors said.
Maiorana’s deranged posts fomenting violence continued that day, according to the complaint. “All right thinking people need to hit the streets while these scumbags are celebrating and start blowing them away,” which the investigating FBI agent said likely referred to people rejoicing in Joe Biden’s presidential victory, the court papers state.
“Soap Box, Ballot Box…that was fraudulently stolen from us, Now Cartridge Box,” he allegedly ranted online. The agent said this likely referenced bullet cartridge boxes, the filing states.
Maiorana allegedly posted similar content under the username “Proud Patriot Sailor” on June 16, 2020, and also wrote about purchasing parts to manufacture a firearm. The agent found that the handle @patriotsailor2 was registered to Maiorana and came back to his email address.
He is charged with making threatening interstate communications.
U.S. District Judge Sanket Bulsara ordered Mairona held without bail.
