LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A rusty bolt fell from the elevated 7 train tracks in Long Island City on Tuesday morning, narrowly missing an unsuspecting driver, according to a Gothamist report.

The giant bolt crashed through the roof of Kew Gardens resident Philip Garcia's car as he drove under the Queensboro Plaza subway station, he told Gothamist.

"You just hear a loud sound, and there's a huge, five-pound bolt through your sunroof," Garcia, 31, told the news outlet. "I've seen things fall from the 7 train since I was a teenager, but I've never seen anything like that."

It's the latest in a series of objects that have fallen from the 7 train in Queens so far this year, including a beam that impaled a car window in February and a rusted chunk of debris that rained down on a moving car in March.

After several months of headline-worthy projectiles, the MTA finally agreed to start installing protective netting under some of the elevated subway tracks that run through the borough, Gothamist reported earlier this month.
