Need to know where to go for your Independence Day celebration in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC? Patch has July 4 schedules.

WASHINGTON, DC — Parades are about to get under way across northern Virginia and fireworks shows are planned for the Fourth of July holiday — some are this weekend, some are on July 4 itself. Many fireworks are not legal in Virginia. Check with your local municipality for laws regarding fireworks.

We have the list of towns holding fireworks, parades and anything else that should get you in the holiday spirit. You should know that a number of towns are not holding celebrations on July 4 itself. So prepare yourself for anything held before or after.

While the weather will be steamy for parades, concerts and other July 4 fun, the DC region weather forecast looks favorable for events to go off as planned. The National Weather Service says there is a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms after noon on Wednesday with a high near 92; it will feel like 100 degrees across much of northern Virginia and The District.
