ATLANTA, GA — The NBA is investigating an argument that happened Monday night between L.A. Lakers player, LeBron James, and two Atlanta Hawks fans.

The two fans, a husband and wife, were seated courtside but later ejected from the game after they had a verbal altercation with James in the fourth quarter.

Now, the NBA is investigating the incident, Hawks CEO Steve Koonin told the AJC, causing the Hawks to write reports.

“The NBA is looking into what happened last night and reviewing reports and videos and will be back to us today with their thoughts,” Koonin said.

The couple has been identified as Juliana and Chris Carlos, who has had season tickets for years.

She posted on Instagram while in the back hallway at State Farm Arena, with a profanity-laced recount of what happened.

"So, I'm minding my own business, and Chris has been a Hawks fan forever. He's been watching the games for 10 years," Juliana said in the post. "Whatever, he has this issue with LeBron. I don't have an issue with LeBron. I don't give a [expletive] about LeBron. Anyway, I'm minding my own business, drinking my wine, having fun. All of the sudden, LeBron says something to my husband, and I see this and I stand up. And I go, 'Don't [expletive] talk to my husband.' And he looks at me and he goes, 'Sit the [expletive] down, [expletive].’' And I go, 'Don't [expletive] call me a [expletive]. You sit the [expletive] down. Don't [expletive] talk to my husband like that.'"

After the game, LeBron tweeted, "Courtside Karen was MAD MAD!!" but also addressed it during an interview.

"At the end of the day, I’m happy fans are back in the building," James said in the interview. "I miss that interaction. I need that interaction. We as players need that interaction. I don't feel like they were warranted to be kicked out. There was a back-and-forth between two grown men and we said our peace. He said his peace. I said my peace. And then someone else jumped in and said their peace. I didn't think they should have been kicked out. But they might have had a couple drinks maybe. And they could have probably kept it going during the game, and the game wouldn't have been about the game no more, so I think the referees did what they had to do."

According to a spokesperson, the Hawks would not have a statement on the incident, the AJC reported.

Fans were allowed back into State Farm Arena to watch games last month, with added safety precautions.
