WASHINGTON, DC -- Firefighters arrived at an apartment building in Northwest to find smoke billowing out of multiple windows of the brick structure on Sunday.

D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted video of the scene -- embedded below -- showing the fire in the 3200 block of Hiatt Place NW, which is located between the neighborhoods of Mount Pleasant and Columbia Heights.

"Fire quickly extinguished & a number of residents removed to safety," they stated. "EMS evaluating several residents. Displacements expected."

Investigators were on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
