Jose Mourinho is eager to sign Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot for Roma in January.

Dalot possesses experience of playing in Serie A having spent last season on loan at AC Milan.

Mourinho was in charge of United when Dalot signed for the club in June 2018.

However, Mourinho was sacked in December that year, with Dalot making just six appearances under him as he missed a host of games due to injury.

Dalot has returned to United following his loan spell, but, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka established as the first-choice right-back for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, the Portuguese's chances of regular playing time appear limited.

So far this season Dalot has played 53 minutes against Young Boys in the Champions League, while he came on as a late substitute against Wolves in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford.

During his time at United Dalot has made 37 appearances in total.

Roma, meanwhile, won their first three games of the Serie A season but were beaten 3-2 by Verona last weekend.

Dutchman Rick Karsdorp is Roma's first-choice right-back at present.
