De Blasio again calls on Cuomo to step down after ‘troubling’ AG report

Mayor Bill de Blasio again called on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to step down Tuesday, following the bombshell findings of Attorney General Tish James’ probe, which he called “disqualifying,” and “painful to hear.”

“It is beyond clear that Andrew Cuomo is not fit to hold office and can no longer serve as Governor,” de Blasio said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. “He must resign, and if he continues to resist and attack the investigators who did their jobs, he should be impeached immediately.”

The statement came after he ripped Cuomo for his “unacceptable” conduct.

“The summary you just gave represents behavior that is unacceptable, unacceptable to anyone, especially in a public servant,” de Blasio said during a remote press conference Tuesday morning, after a Post reporter read the synopsis of the Attorney General’s report.

“I’ve been very clear about the fact that what we’ve seen is disqualifying,” he added earlier in the day. “It’s very, very troubling and painful to hear that account of a powerful person treating people that way.”

The results of James’ investigation — released Tuesday morning during the mayor’s regularly scheduled press briefing — found Cuomo violated federal and state laws by sexually harassing multiple women and retaliated against the victims when they came forward.

After his press conference, de Blasio’s statement labeled the probe “detailed and thorough,” maintaining it detailed “disqualifying” behavior.

“The Attorney General’s detailed and thorough report substantiates many disturbing instances of severe misconduct. Andrew Cuomo committed sexual assault and sexual harassment, and intimidated a whistleblower” the mayor’s statement read. “It is disqualifying.”

In March, the mayor called on Cuomo to resign after the allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced.
