3 Alabama golfers attacked, injured by camouflaged people hiding in woods

Three Alabama golfers were injured over the weekend after several individuals dressed in camouflage attacked them at a golf course, according to police.

The incident happened during a tournament at the Craft Farms Golf Resort in Gulf Shores, just after 1 p.m. on Sept. 26, according to Gulf Shores police.

The golfers told police that an air horn was blown during each of their backswings on the course’s third hole. Police said that the golfers eventually confronted the male, believed to be a teenager or of college age.

During the confrontation and ensuing fight, several other individuals ran out of the woods and started beating the golfers.

One was taken to the hospital with a severe cut to the head and broken teeth. The condition of the other two is unknown.

Chad Leonard, General Manager of the resort, told WALA that he’s never seen anything like the incident in his 25-years in the golf industry.

“This was completely isolated,” Leonard told the outlet. “These guys could have picked any golf course in the area. We were the unlucky ones.”

Officials with the department said that they’re looking for up to six people involved in the incident. They’re also looking for two other individuals that might’ve been in the getaway car.
