Kernels fall to Stevens in non-conference match

RAPID CITY -- The Mitchell High School volleyball team went 1-1 on its to Rapid City.

After knocking off Rapid City Central on Friday, the Kernels were swept by Rapid City Stevens on Saturday. Set scores were 25-18, 25-15 and 25-10.

Regan Waddell led the Kernels (4-17) with nine kills, while Megan Schuerenbrand and Katy Sebert both had eight kills apiece. Sebert finished with 31 assists. Schuerenbrand added 13 digs. Mary Baltzer finished with seven kills.

Amy Uher recorded 27 digs and Sarah Sebert added 23 digs.

Mitchell is now No. 15 in the Class AA standings. The top 16 teams in the final standings qualify for the state-qualifying SoDak16 round.
