Yushi Adachi, of the nation’s meteorological agency, called the weather “unprecedented,” according to the report. “It’s highly likely that some kind of disaster has already occurred,” he said.
Western prefectures are the worst-hit so far, but heavy rain is expected across the country, according to the report.
