Almost two million have been told to evacuate their homes amid torrential rain in Japan, according to reports.

Fukuoka and Hiroshima are among the prefectures that have been issued the government’s highest rain warning, according to the BBC.

In Nagasaki Prefecture, a woman died and her husband and daughter were missing following a landslide, according to the report.

Yushi Adachi, of the nation’s meteorological agency, called the weather “unprecedented,” according to the report. “It’s highly likely that some kind of disaster has already occurred,” he said.

Western prefectures are the worst-hit so far, but heavy rain is expected across the country, according to the report.
