Poll: Who is Staten Island’s best PSAL girls’ hoopster this season?

Staten Island has become a hotbed for girls’ hoops talent at the high school level, and this season has been no different with a number of players staking their claim for the title of best in the borough.

That’s why we’re asking you, the readers, to make the choice for us -- though we’ve listed the seven nominees along with their stats below.

Nicole Melious (Susan Wagner) -- The freshman forward burst onto the scene, racking up an Island-high 25.3 points per game on the strength of 3.4 made threes per game over her first 10 league contests. She’s also averaged 4.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the unbeaten Falcons.

Sydney Gomes (New Dorp) -- A freshman phenom a year ago, the sophomore guard is picking up where she left off -- averaging 23 points per game.

Kasey Caroccia (New Dorp) -- The senior guard is averaging 16.6 markers per game alongside Gomes.

Serena Chow (CSI/McCown) -- The sophomore point guard is the head of the “dragon” at CSIM -- tallying 19.4 points per game and 5.4 rebounds.

Zaria Lewis (Curtis) -- The freshman forward averages 12.2 ppg and 3.5 rpg.

Vanessa Kraker (Tottenville) -- One of the premiere rim protectors on the Island, the Pirates senior center is totaling 10.4 points to go along with 7.5 rebounds, along with some stout defense.

Lucy Hartnett (McKee/Staten Island Tech) -- The do-it-all point guard is putting up 12.7 ppg along with an astonishing 11.3 rebounds per contest.
