SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Four months ago, Emilie Talermo's miniature Australian Shepherd, Jackson, was stolen outside a San Francisco grocery store. Following an extensive search that included a banner-carrying airplane, the dog was spotted in Southern California and the two have been reunited, NBC reports.

Jackson disappeared in December, after Talermo left him ited up outside a grocery store in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood. Surveillance footage showed a man walking up to the bench moments before Jackson was taken.

In the ensuing weeks, police put out calls for the missing dog — and Talermo took matters into her own hands, offering a $7,000 reward, passing out fliers and creating a website to "Bring Jackson Home." She even hired a plane to fly over San Francisco to spread the word, NBC reported.

"It’s been through social media, print media, word of mouth, Nextdoor app, every possible thing, Craigslist, anything that we could think of to get word out there," Talermo told NBC.

Talermo's luck changed recently when members of the public saw Jackson in Los Angeles County. Police tracked down a suspect — Nicholas Bravo, 27, of Palmdale, who was already in custody for other reasons — and arrested him Friday on suspicion of felony grand theft.

With help from a friend and San Francisco police, Jackson was taken back to San Francisco and reunited with his overjoyed owner early Tuesday, NBC reported.
