SEC admits officiating error cost Texas A&M 90-yard touchdown against Arkansas

A missed call by officials Saturday during the second quarter of the Texas A&M-Arkansas game cost the Aggies a touchdown.

The SEC released a statement to confirm the mistake.

Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond broke free for what appeared to be a 90-yard touchdown run 10:02 left in the first half.

However, the official ruled Mond stepped out of bounds around the 10, blowing the whistle.

A review showed Mond didn't step out of bounds but because he blew the play dead, the play - by rule - could not be reviewed.

Here's the SEC statement, per USA Today:

"On the play at 10:02 in the second quarter of the Arkansas vs. Texas A&M game, the ball carrier was incorrectly ruled out of bounds and the play whistled dead by the official.

"Based on NCAA football playing rule 12-3-3-g, 'If the ball carrier is ruled out of bounds, the play is not reviewable."

Texas A&M settled for a field goal and trailed Arkansas 21-17 at halftime.
