Betts’ cleats have images of David Ortiz, who is still recovering from being shot in the Dominican Republic.

The multi-paneled shoes have:

* A pattern of the word ‘Papi’ in different colors on each foot.

* Two different images of Ortiz’s face with his trademark gold reflecting sunglasses on each side

* His inner left foot depicts a green pattern of 34s, Ortiz’s retired jersey number

* The inner right foot shows the Green Monster scoreboard segment for a time when Ortiz was batting.

The annual Players’ Weekend begins Friday and extends through Sunday. The players are wearing monochrome black or white jerseys this year to draw more attention to unique bats and cleats and other accessories.

Ortiz was shot on June 9. He underwent emergency surgery In the Dominican before being flown to Boston where he’s been recovering since.
