Winnipeg police dealt with two attempted carjackings on Sunday and say they have arrested two men.
The first happened Sunday at about 10:30 a.m. on Burrows Avenue. A man was seated in his car in the back lane when another man flung open the door and threatened the victim, police say. The victim struggled and called for help, and family members came from out of the house to help. The suspect ran away, police say.
A few hours later, a man went to a business on Main Street and damaged an electrical outlet, police say. Police caught up with him about half an hour later at 1:30 p.m. and took him into custody.
After an investigation, the man was found to be a suspect in a break-and-enter on Portage Avenue in 2014, where medication was stolen, police say.

Fabian Scott Mason, 39, of Winnipeg, faces charges of robbery, mischief under $5,000 and break and enter.
The second attempted carjacking happened later that day at 3:25 p.m. Police say a man opened the door of a car parked on Balmoral Street with two people inside. The male driver struggled to pull the door closed while the suspect tried to force it open.
The female passenger managed to put the car in reverse, and the male driver was able to hit the suspect, who then let go and ran away, police say.
The suspect went a few blocks away, where police say he stole an unlocked car that was left running. The man reversed the car into a garage and witnesses managed to pull him out of the car and hold him down until police arrived.
Awasis John Beardy, 25, of Winnipeg, faces charges of robbery, possession of a weapon and car theft.
Both men are in custody.
