Eagles surprisingly interviewing Jerod Mayo for head coach vacancy

The Eagles coaching search has turned up some expected names.

49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles are two of them.

But Jerod Mayo? Now that is a surprise.

The Patriots’ inside linebackers coach will be speaking to the Eagles about their vacant head-coaching position, according to the NFL Network.

Mayo has been a coach for just two seasons after spending eight years as a linebacker for the Patriots.

This certainly would be an outside-the-box hire after Philadelphia fired Doug Pederson three years removed from winning the Super Bowl.
