Montreal company relocates to West Island to cut commute times

A small Montreal-based software development company has moved to the West Island to cut commute times for most of its employees.

Silent Partner Software designs and builds software for non-profit organizations and charities.

It recently moved to Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue from LaSalle.

“I can use the car. It takes 20 minutes. By bike, it depends on my shape — from 45 to 50 minutes, but it’s a nice ride,” said Albert Trifamov.

The company insists employees now have more time to work on projects for their clients, rather than sitting in traffic.

“Like many Montrealers, our staff has felt the considerable pains of the ongoing Turcot construction during their morning and afternoon commutes,” said Scott Brereton, a product specialist.

“As a growing software company, we were primarily interested in finding a location that was accessible to our current employees and one that is able to attract new employees.”

The company is expanding, and is looking to hire three more full-time employees — it argues being on the western tip of the island will help attract lots of solid candidates.

“This relocation has reduced the commute dramatically for our employees and some now even bike to the office,” he said.
