Season 3 of Stranger Things will finally give poor Will Byers a break

On Stranger Things, Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers is basically the unluckiest kid in the whole universe. In season one, he got sucked into the “Upside Down” and spent most of the episodes off-camera while talking to his mom with Christmas lights, and though he did get rescued by the end, he still spent the second season being terrorized by a shadow monster and occasionally getting possessed. Thankfully, it sounds like season three is going to be a little easier on poor Will Byers, with executive producer Shawn Levy telling Glamour that they’re “not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row.”

Levy says he’ll still “be dealing with stuff,” since it would be unfair if he just got to take a season off while his friends faced some other extra-dimensional Dungeons & Dragons monster, but he just “won’t be at rock bottom” the whole time. He wouldn’t give very many specifics for season three beyond that, but he does say the overall storyline—including what will happen to each main character—has been sketched out. Also, Gaten Matarazzo’s Dustin and Joe Keery’s Steve will continue to hang out and be best friends, and that new bad boy might have sex with Mike’s mom. You know, standard Stranger Things stuff.
