Our first search of 2020 is kicking off and we need your help. Nominations are now open for Michigan’s Best Burger, and we are looking to you to help uncover the tastiest burgers across the state.
Our Michigan’s Best team of John Gonzalez and Amy Sherman have decided to personally dub this one “The Great Burger Search of 2020”, because it sounds pretty grand, and to differentiate it from the very first burger search that Gonzo undertook way back in 2013.
What makes a great burger? The quality of the beef, a perfect bun, and fresh toppings all combine to create a burger that just hits the spot. We want to find burgers that we can’t stop thinking about, the ones that you go back for over and over again.
We are interested in places that have been serving tasty burgers for decades, using their tried and true recipe. We’re also excited to try new restaurants that might be pushing the envelope with creative toppings and interesting tastes.

We’ll be accepting nominations until Saturday Feb. 22 at noon. Our voting polls, arranged by region, will go up on Monday Feb. 24. You’ll then be able to vote through Friday Feb. 28 at noon. You can vote in multiple regional polls. In fact, if you wish, you can vote in all of them. We guarantee a visit to the poll winner in each region. After the polls close, we’ll finalize our schedule, and will plan on visiting about 30 different places in order to taste and try Michigan’s best burgers.
We’ll start our visits around all of Michigan the first week of March, and after thousands of miles of travel, and most likely hundreds of burgers tried, we’ll declare our top picks by the end of March.
We can’t do Michigan’s Best without your expertise. Help us find our state’s most delicious burgers by nominating your favorites now. Remember, you must email us your nominations this time.
