Bee panic causes woman to crash along Lehigh County roadway, cops say

A woman crashed her SUV Friday morning when a bee flew into her car through an open window and landed on her lap, Upper Macungie Township police said.

The accident happened shortly before noon along Mill Road -- north of Tilghman Street -- in the township. Elizabeth L. McKinstry, 46, of Allentown was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango and looked down at the bee when she drifted off the road, striking two landscape boulders on a property at 651 Mill Road, police said.

The vehicle sustained front end and right corner damage, becoming disabled, and had to be towed, police said. There were no reported injuries.
