Dev Hynes teases new Blood Orange music

He announced he was working on his fourth album earlier this year.

Blood Orange, aka Dev Hynes has teased new music on Instagram – potentially from his upcoming new album.

The singer announced he was working on his fourth album – the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Freetown Sound’ – earlier this year, an album that NME described as: “a bold, challenging album about the social and generational forces that have shaped Dev Hynes’ sense of blackness.”

The new clip – posted to Hynes’ Instagram account – shows grainy footage of traffic passing, with what appears to be a taster of his new music playing in the background, judging by the caption: “Album…4(?)”.

The post features what sounds like clips of two different tracks.

Back in October, while speaking at The New Yorker festival, Hynes said that his latest album was “78% done”.

The singer  – who now lives in New York City but was brought up in Essex – told the site that: “A lot of the new songs on the new album deal with growing up and childhood in England. Looking at the country that made me.”

He went on to say that it wasn’t an easy place for a child of two immigrants to be, due to the BNP being “constantly elected in power”.

In September Hynes shared a new Blood Orange track on Soundcloud, titled ‘Boweryldn edit 6 15 September’.

Earlier this year, Hynes teamed up with Bryndon Cook of Starchild & the New Romantic to form new project VeilHymn.

In September, he called Devendra Banhart’s music “insufferable” before telling fans he intended to delete Twitter.

Hynes wrote in a tweet that was later deleted: “The music of Devandra Banhart is so insufferable I feel sorry for the entirety of Los Angeles, you deserve better.”
