MILWAUKEE — Behind a strong outing from Bret Helton, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks took down the Milwaukee Milkmen 4-1 in American Association baseball Thursday night at Routine Field before 1,550 fans.
Helton (6-5) shined on the mound, throwing a no-hitter through six innings before Manuel Boscan's leadoff double broke up the gem in the bottom of the seventh. Helton allowed just one run off two hits with three walks and nine strikeouts through seven innings.
Wilfredo Gimenez led F-M from the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Chris Jacobs added a hit and an RBI, while Correlle Prime tallied two hits.
The RedHawks (59-31) maintain a 2 1/2 game lead over the St. Paul Saints (56-33) in the North Division and conclude their three-game series with Milwaukee (35-59) at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
