Last night, Gigi Hadid brought the stars and stripes to London Fashion Week's Tommy Hillfiger SS18 catwalk show, walking alongside her siblings Bella, Anwar and model BFFs Joan Smalls and Hailey Baldwin.

However, while she might have been surrounded by her US-based friends and family on the runway, it appears the 22-year-old Californian beauty has been brushing up on her British accent since dating Bradford-born boyfriend Zayn Malik and, from the sounds of it, it's not going so well.

Yesterday morning, Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger made an appearance on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show to chat with host Nick Grimshaw about their new collection.

During the interview, the pair took part in a test the model's knowledge of Yorkshire phrases.

'I do practise it,' Gigi told the presenter. 'Sometimes Zee thinks I'm making fun of him. I'm like "Babe, I'm not making fun of you. I just love the accent."'

However, when questioned whether she knew the meaning of the phrase 'Ey up', Gigi was left baffled.

'Um, does that mean like, are you up?' she questioned, before learning it simply means 'hello'.

Later in the interview, the New York-based star revealed she's been watching Channel 4 teen drama Skins to help her practise her British twang.

'We recently re-watched it all. It's so good,' she gushed.

With a love of Zayn's cooking and an obsession with baked beans as a result of dating her 'Dusk Till Dawn' crooning beau, Hadid also admitted she's taking tips from his mother, Trisha, to give the former One Directions star a taste of his Yorkshire roots.

'Zayn has helped me a lot with my British food love and Indian food love, and his mum is an amazing cook,' she said.

'The have made me a huge fan of British food.

'Sunday roasts I love. Curry…I'm trying to learn everything as I go and make a little cook book, instead of annoying his mum every week by texting her.

Could a Gigi Hadid cookbook be on the cards?

Here's hoping!
