Syracuse, N.Y. -- Former Syracuse forward Oshae Brissett was taken in the second round of the G-League Draft on Monday by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

He was taken with the second pick of the second round (19th overall) and was the first pick for Fort Wayne. The first overall pick was former Tennessee star Admiral Schofield.

The G-League season is currently planning to begin its season in February. The one-site season is scheduled to be played in Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Brissett, 22, was waived by the Toronto Raptors last month.

Brissett had re-signed with the franchise after spending last season with the Raptors on a two-way contract. His release was a little bit of a surprise. The Athletic reported that the team gave Brissett a partially-guaranteed multi-year contract to attend training camp. The size of the guarantee ($300,000) made it impossible for Brissett to re-sign with the team’s G-League team.

Brissett played in 30 G-League games last year, averaging 14.9 points and 6.6 rebounds. He did undergo late-season knee surgery. He also played 19 games with the Raptors, averaging 7.1 minutes.

He will join some familiar names in Fort Wayne including Cassius Stanley (Duke), Naz Mitrou-Long (Iowa State) and Brian Bowen II (planned to attend Louisville before playing in Australia).

Brissett went undrafted after leaving Syracuse following his sophomore season when he averaged 12.4 points and 7.5 rebounds.

Syracuse currently has four players competing in the NBA: Jerami Grant, Carmelo Anthony, Michael Carter-Williams and Elijah Hughes. Dion Waiters, who played last season, is currently unsigned.
