SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — The Spotsylvania County Treasurer’s Office is encouraging taxpayers to use its online payment platform to view and pay bills, even as the state begins to ease restrictions in Spotsylvania and other parts of the state related to the coronavirus crisis.

Spotsylvania residents can view and pay their real estate and personal property taxes and water and sewer bills through the online system. Residents also can pay parking tickets, business taxes and refuse fees. The online platform allows users to make one-time payments or schedule automatic payments by credit card or electronic check.

The county is using the online platform provided by electronic bill payment company Invoice Cloud to allow residents to conduct business online.

The Richard Holbert Building at 9104 Courthouse Road, where the Treasurer’s Office and its cashier’s counter are located, closed March 19 in response to the coronavirus crisis. The office reopened Monday to the public but with limited capacity and strict social distancing guidelines in place. The public is encouraged to wear masks when visiting county buildings.

“For the foreseeable future, online payments are a good way for residents to stay safe at home and avoid waiting in line at the Treasurer’s Office or going to the post office when it comes time to pay their bills,” Spotsylvania Treasurer Larry Pritchett said in a statement.

Taxpayers can call the Treasurer’s Office at 540-507-7058 if they have any questions about registering for online payments or any other issues related to their bills.

Payments made by credit card include a percentage-based fee, while payments made by electronic check do not require a processing fee. Residents also may pay by phone using a credit card through Invoice Cloud by calling 1-844-443-8803 for all payment types except real estate.

"With stay-at-home orders and government shutdowns affecting normal trips and transactions, consumers are finding even more convenience in the technology," Bob Lapides, president of Invoice Cloud, said in a statement.
