AURORA, IL — Paramount Theatre is pushing back some of its summer shows due to uncertainty about reopening restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The theater has postponed its June 2021 non-Broadway shows until March 2022, President and CEO Tim Rater announced this week. Frank Caliendo is set to open the slate of performances March 18, 2022, followed by “Killer Queen” the next day and Jay Leno later that week.

Paramount Theatre is still working to secure a new date next spring for “Straight No Chaser.” Those who had tickets for the June 2021 shows can use them next spring, Rater said.

Though it’s delaying some productions, the theater still hopes to reopen this summer with “Kinky Boots.”

“The set is built, props are ready and costumes are underway, all so we can hit the ground running when state restrictions allow,” Rater said.

The first preview for “Kinky Boots” is scheduled for June 30, but Rater said that could be delayed, which would push back the launch of Paramount Theatre’s 10th anniversary season with “Rock of Ages.”
