Bodies Of Woman, Girl In Burning Vehicle: Douglasville Homicides

Douglasville police found the bodies of a woman and girl in a burning car on Colquitt Street late Sunday afternoon. A suspect is in custody.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA β€” The bodies of a woman and a girl were found inside a burned vehicle, and Douglasville authorities said Monday they have a suspect in custody. Police have not yet released the names of the victim or the suspect, but described the case as domestic in nature.

Douglasville Police officers were called to a vehicle fire behind a residence at 8036 Colquitt St. about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Douglas County Fire Department crews and police arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, investigators found the two victims inside the vehicle, according to a news release from the Douglasville Police Department.

Investigators determined that the deaths stemmed from a domestic issue, identified a suspect and issued a "be on the lookout" alert for the unidentified man.

About 10 p.m. Sunday, the suspect was located and taken into custody. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail.

The Douglasville Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Major Case Unit is investigating the incident. "At this time, there is no danger to the public and there are no outstanding suspects," police said.
