For several generations of Brits, just the name Mr. Blobby is enough to conjure feelings of total horror or childlike glee.

Now, the beloved/feared iconic children’s TV character seems to have taken his talents to the world of wrestling, perhaps in a bid to become one of new WWE boss Triple H’s latest signings.

A video uploaded by wrestler Ivy on Twitter shows Noel Edmond’s chaotic pal getting involved in a match for House of Pain Wrestling at Gloworm Festival at Thorseby Park over the weekend.

The clip shows Mr. Blobby himself in the ring, struggling to count to three before pushing Ivy off the apron to the floor below.

It’s only a short video, but we can only imagine how wild the rest of his antics were, particularly given that his whole shtick involved him bumbling around and bumping into things.

OK, so it doesn’t seem like a WWE contract will be offered anytime soon, but we’d love to see him in next year’s Royal Rumble – or even a guest appeared at the company’s Clash At The Castle event in Cardiff, Wales next month.

For those who’ve somehow – or deliberately – avoided Blobby over the years, he first staggered to fame in the 1990s on Noel’s House Party, and he even landed a UK Christmas Number One in 1993 with a self-titled hit.

He’s continued to appear on television sporadically – as Big Fat Quiz viewers know all too well – over the years, and back in December 2021 he enjoyed something of a revival which saw him back on the Beeb.

Blobby was interviewed by Christian Fraser for the BBC News channel, and it typically descended into chaos involving mince pies and a poor security guard.

Although Mr Blobby’s wrestling debut this weekend was unexpected, it’s not the only time a celebrity has stepped between the ropes.

Grammy Award-winning singer Bad Bunny made his WWE debut at WrestleMania 37 in 2021, while Jackass legend Johnny Knoxville beat Sami Zayn in a wild Anything Goes match at this year’s huge event.

WrestleMania 38 also saw Logan Paul team up with The Miz to face Rey and Dominik Mysterio, and the controversial YouTuber – who has since signed a contract with WWE – was back to beat The Miz in a singles match at SummerSlam.
