HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Route 206 traffic in both directions will be shifted Saturday between Doctor’s Way and Andria Avenue in Hillsborough as the Route 206 Bypass project advances, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announced.

On Sept. 14 sometime in the late morning hours traffic will be temporarily stopped for a few minutes in both directions on Route 206 between Doctor’s Way and Andria Avenue to shift traffic to the newly constructed southbound side of the road to allow for the construction of a new culvert, NJDOT said.

One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open during this stage, which is expected to last through the winter.

The $44 million state-funded 1.7-mile center section of the bypass was completed in October 2013.

The remaining portion which will cost $36.6 million in state and federal funds runs from Mountain View Road to Hillsborough Road on the southern end and from Amwell Road/CR 514 to Old Somerville Road on the northern end. The project also included building the new jughandle.

The entire bypass project is expected to be completed by fall 2020.
