Tiger Woods is being sued by a Florida family that alleges their bartender son was overserved booze at the famed golfer’s restaurant before being killed in a drunk-driving accident, TMZ reports.
Nicholas Immesberger — who battled alcoholism, according to his parents — worked at The Woods restaurant in Jupiter, Fla., and is said to have known Tiger personally. The suit alleges Immesberger, 24, stayed past his shift one December 2018 night, and was then inundated with drinks to the point of “severe intoxication.”
Immesberger, who played football at Bridewater College in western Virginia, lost control of his car on his way home and swerved across three lanes before going airborne and overturning in Port Salerno, the Florida Highway Patrol said at the time, according to the Palm Beach Post. His blood alcohol level was .256 at the time of the fatal crash, more than three times the legal limit.
The family claims Woods “was directly responsible for ensuring that his employees and management … were not over serving its employees/customers.” The restaurant is said to be primarily run by Woods’ girlfriend, Erica Herman.
Woods, who recently received the Presidential Medal of Freedom after winning The Masters, is currently preparing for the PGA Championship. Woods, 43, has not yet commented on the situation.
