The polls were open for five days, and the final tally saw New Dorp linebacker Zha’Monykue Davis take the crown as your top defensive player in Staten Island’s PSAL flag football circuit, as voted upon by you, the readers.

After nearly 25,000 votes were cast, Davis leapfrogged the pack atop the standings -- which saw her emerge with 15,956 votes, more than two-thirds of the total take.

Tottenville’s Georgette Patti received more than 7,000 votes, while Susan Wagner’s Lauren Persichetty finished third.

Davis helped lead the Cougars to an 8-4 mark during the regular season, piling up 26 tackles, before adding eight more in the playoffs, as well as two interceptions.
