Gonzalez scored 22 points, 18 coming off six 3-pointers, to power the Innovation Academy boys basketball team to a 69-55 victory over Prospect Hill Academy on Monday night.
The Hawks (6-3, 3-3 league) were paced by the heady play of Derrick Twum (21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists). Innovation held a 34-19 lead at halftime. Lansana Kaimachiande collected a double-double, netting 12 points and 12 rebounds, for the winners.
Swimming
The North Reading/Wilmington teams defeated Ipswich during meets at the Burbank Y. The girls were narrow 78-77 winners in an exciting meet, while the boys coasted to a dominating 69-24 victory.

Andover 138.45, Dracut 118.45: The Middies fell to a strong Andover team during Merrimack Valley Conference action.
Colleges
Jonsson feted: For the second time this year, UMass Lowell sophomore Isac Jonsson (Ängelholm, Sweden) has been named the Army ROTC Defender of the Week by Hockey East.
The defenseman put up career numbers last weekend to help the River Hawks sweep the two-game home-and-home series against New Hampshire. In Friday’s 6-2 rout of the Wildcats on home ice, Jonsson scored the game-winning goal and dished out an assist to clinch the thrilling victory. He then returned to action Saturday night in the River Hawks’ overtime thriller to register another two-point night off a goal and an assist to finish the weekend with four points.
Quirbach honored: The Saint Michael’s College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams swept past Northeast-10 Conference foe The College of Saint Rose. The women eased to a 151-82 victory, while the men were triumphant by a 128.5-99.5 count.
For the men, freshman Connor Quirbach (Lowell/Chelmsford High) picked up three wins to set the school record for season total wins (28), breaking Connor Hopkins’ school mark (27). Quirback is tied third in season individual wins (17).
